What is RUSU?

Reading University Students’ Union (RUSU) is here to help all 23,000 University of Reading students have a great time whilst they are studying here. From the advice staff working in The Hub to the student staff working behind the bar and the Student Officers elected by you to speak up on your behalf, we are all here to help you make the most of your student experience.

Your Membership

As a student at the University of Reading you are automatically a member of RUSU, entitling you to have a say in directing the Students’ Union. You can attend the Democracy meetings and put forward ideas on what you would like RUSU to campaign on.

Services For Students

RUSU provides over 100 student representation groups, societies, sports clubs and volunteer groups including a student media section. The Union offers independent advice on anything from immigration to finance and housing to education by way of the Student Advice team.

Funding

All the money we receive through our venue and retail outlets goes back into the organisation to provide, improve and develop services to our members, you the students.

Union Leadership

RUSU is a registered charity and strategic leadership is provided by the Trustee Board. The Trustee Board consists of five full time Student Officers and three Student Trustees elected annually by a cross campus ballot and between two and four External Trustees.

Your Student Officers

The five elected Student Officers work full-time at the Union for a year and listen to how students want things done. They make sure you are provided with quality representation, opportunities, personal development as well as great services and facilities.
